Year-End Appeal - December 2022

Dear Friend and Supporter,

Welcoming the Stranger was founded 23 years ago based on a simple idea: that it is morally right to offer compassionate and caring assistance to immigrants and refugees in need. During this season of celebration, gratitude, and appreciation, would you again consider making a gift? Our goal is to raise $18,000 by year’s end in support of our mission.

2022 has been both challenging and rewarding for us. Our Winter and Spring classes were held virtually as the COVID pandemic continued, and this model worked well to provide free classes online. In Fall 2022 we were very pleased to add a hybrid class model, with in-person classes provided at select locations in our service area.

This year 347 students registered to take one or more English, computer and citizenship preparation classes. The success of our hybrid classes is shown by the 123% increase in students from the previous year’s virtual only classes. Eight students became citizens this year.

Your gift is a seed that will grow. It is an investment in improving the futures of our refugee and immigrant students, their families, and their communities.

It is very important that Welcoming the Stranger begins 2023 with the resources that it needs. Thank you for your generosity, past and present. We promise to be good stewards of your gift.

Wishing you and your family a wonderful holiday season.
